Camping
The Rio Grande Council maintains two camps in the Rio Grande Valley: Camp Perry and Laguna Station.
- Camp Perry is the council's local Boy Scout Camp. It is the oldest continuously run camp in Texas and has been in existence for 76 years. Camp Perry is located 2 miles north of Rio Hondo, TX and runs along the Arroyo Colorado River. The camp covers over 260 acres with 12 large, scenic campsites.
- Laguna Station is the council's local High Adventure Sea Base which has been in existence for over nine years and has attracted hundreds of troops, crews, & posts from all over the country. Laguna Station is located on the southern tip of South Padre Island between the jetties and the U.S. Coast Guard.

Tour Permits
A tour permit is required every time your unit travels out of your standard meeting location. The process is simple, just follow these steps:
Step #1: Complete a local tour permit form.(Click here)
Step #2: Send the tour permit via email to: permit775@bsamail.org or fax it to our service center at: 956-421-4950
Step #3: Once you have received the approved permit; take it with you for proof.
Accident Insurance Form
The Rio Grande Council, Inc. has a blanket accident insurance policy covering all registered youth and adults. A copy of this policy is recommended to be in the hands of unit leaders while traveling or during any event where Scouts may require medical attention.
Learning for Life participants are also covered under this policy, under the Learning for Life program.
